In the fall of 2012 both I and Heather were stressed out. We wanted to do tons of photoshoots, but our everyday life was in the way. With barely any free time, we felt we couldn’t do any bigger projects justice. That’s when we came up with the idea of doing “budget” shoots. The idea was to come up with a theme, keep the budget at a minimum and the crafting as uncomplicated as possible. And thus, our first season-themed shoot was born. Sanchez was the obvious choice for this shoot, she’s always been our autumn goddess and was thrilled over the idea. Way back when we did the 10 years of Halo shoot I had this idea of a picture that I wanted taken. I imagined this hipster-esque person leaning against a wall sipping coffee from a Halo mug. We never got around taking that picture then, but the idea of doing something “fashion” and hipster, but still very nerdy, continued to linger in my head. So a while ago, it must have been early this spring, we did an extemporary Laura Bow shoot with Sanchez. When we did the first shoot with all three heroines we thought of doing a short movie (think classic silent era movie), but due to time constraint we never got around doing it. Blizzard were kind enough to finally decide to release Diablo III in May this year, May 15 to be exact, which also happens to be my birthday. That meant I would be getting myself a sweet birthday present, but also that we needed to get going with our costumes if we intended to have them ready for the midnight release. The release event ended up more of a beta test for the costumes than actually debuting finished costumes. It was actually rather nice to see what worked and what didn’t, and until the real photoshoot later this summer I’ll have both minor and major details to work on.
