Flakes

Flakes

Spent the weekend among almost 800 cats and I just wanted to hug them all. But I had to settle with only hugging two cats. Can’t hug every cat… When I wasn’t plotting on how to hug cats I tried my best at planning the upcoming Diablo costumes with Heather, but due to lack of sleep and too many cute cats we only manage to exchange a few thoughts about the barbarian costume. So instead of planning, we looked at cats and ate food, lots and lots of food. Did I ever mention that I love food? Well most of us involved with Incognito love food, so there will probably be food related post every now and then here on the blog. When I came home today I was met with a pleasant surprise, my nail polish for my Diablo wizard had arrived. Funny how such a small detail can feel so important. The nails are probably something that very few notice on a cosplay, yet for every project we’ve posted here we’ve been very specific with what we’ve used for the nails. For example, you probably don’t even see it on the pictures, but we stamped small feathers on Sanchez nails when she was Laura Bow, and I just love that detail. Even though it might not be noticed, I just love those small special details. For the wizard we thought of doing something that mirrored her dress both in colours (red and gold), patterns (dragons) and fabrics (silk). We came up with the idea of having a red shimmering base topped with gold flakes that looks like dragon scales. Now I just have to decide whether to grow out my own nails, the wizard has really long pointy nails, or using fake nails. Decisions,...

The things that are yet to come

The things that are yet to come

You’d think that buying Skyrim would mean not doing anything productive the coming months.  Luckily for me Bethesda still don’t seem to have QA department, and the game crashed both times I tried to play it. So instead of getting even more annoyed at the game, I’m going to start replaying Arena and Daggerfall until a patch shows up. Meanwhile though, I’ve actually started looking at coming projects. Right now we have three projects coming up, Diablo III, Breath of Fire II and Mass Effect 3. Diablo III is probably the one that will be made first. Mostly because it is time consuming and I’m guessing (hoping) that the game will be released before ME 3.  Hopefully we’ll have all the costumes we’re planning done before the release of the game, but then again, I tend to be a bit too optimistic when it comes to time.  The costumes that are in the planning phase right now are a female wizard, female barbarian, female witch doctor and Tyrael. Somewhere in between the release of Diablo III and ME 3 I’m hoping to remake some old costumes, specifically Mina and Nina from Breath of Fire II. I made the costumes maybe 2 years ago, but never finished them.  I have all the materials for the wings, and the dresses are both almost finished. Looking at them now though, I see that they both need total makeovers, and I’d also like to add a Valerie to the group. Heathers suggested that we’d take winter photos of the costumes, the theme being Windia in Winter, so it’s either doing it right after we’re finished with all the Diablo III stuff, or waiting a whole year.  But then again, who knows if we’re even going to get any snow this year… ME 3 is the one furthest away right now. Not much planning has gone in to it yet, more than fabric scouting, choosing models and sorting out some electrical stuff. The plan is a team consisting of femshep, Miranda and Tali, and hopefully it will be done around the release of the game. The biggest trouble with ME right now is finding a good location for the photoshoot. Sadly, there aren’t a lot of futuristic looking places around here. In worst case we’ll take all the photos in an elevator, considering how much time you spend in...

10 years of Halo

10 years of Halo

I love Halo. No really, I do.  I’m usually not much for modern fps. Games like Gears of war bore me to no end, but Halo, that’s something completely different. To be honest, it all started with Master Chief. I have a thing for armor and cool helmets, so it was more or less love at first sight when I saw Master Chief. After that I just had to play the game, and since then I’ve been hooked on Halo. For the release of Halo Wars Microsoft had this really silly “competition” where they asked for Britain’s hottest Halo fan.  The “winner” was Amanda Johnstone, a cute young brunette that apparently had Halo Wars duvets (even though the game wasn’t released yet), multiple copies of the same posters plastered all over her walls, and liked to make tea and  iron clothes, only wearing a Halo Wars tank top and shorts. The whole thing was so cheesy and blatantly fake that all I could do was laugh. Since then me and my friends have joked about doing a similar photoshoot, and writing a cover of the article. I might not be as cute as miss Johnstone, but Heathers and Canons cats trumps her by far, don’t you think? It’s all in the details: Moving all my Halo related stuff took three people and one car. The nails are painted to mirror Master Chiefs helmet in colors. The same goes for the eye makeup and lenses. Green and a blend of gold and metallic orange for makeup,  and the lenses have a yellowish hue.  The text on the apron, “Say Halo to the Master Chef”, is embroidered in a Halo font. Both Halo editions of the 360 were present at the time, but didn’t make it in to any of the photos. Happy 10th anniversary Halo! [Show as...
